On November 8th Lulu Flores won more than 84% of the vote to secure her seat as Texas House Representative in District 51.
A longtime champion of social justice and equality, Lulu campaigned on the repeal of Senate Bill 8 and supporting women’s autonomy, the expansion of Medicaid, and increased funding for public education. She is committed to serving the citizens of District 51 by ensuring every Texan has the opportunity to pursue their full potential.
Lulu is one of many women joining the Texas House, increasing the number of female representatives to a record 45. Previously having served as the president of the National Women’s Political Caucus, Lulu is excited about the involvement of so many women in the legislature. She is quoted by ValleyCentral.com as saying, “The more inclusive a body can be, I think, the better results you have because you have more voices at the table. I’m hopeful that having more women in the legislature will add our perspectives and will bring those issues that we’ve had to deal with, and our experiences will come to bear on finding solutions — real practical solutions to things and equitable solutions.”
We wish Lulu all the best as she embarks on this new chapter in her political career!
