Hendler Flores Law is proud to announce that Trial Attorney Donald Puckett has recently joined the firm. Don brings more than 20 years of trial and appellate experience to the table as he refocuses his litigation practice to civil rights, mass torts, and personal injury cases.
Don is an accomplished intellectual property trial attorney. He was selected as a Texas Super Lawyer for Intellectual Property Litigation for seven consecutive years (2014-2020), and he was named to the IAM 1000 list of the world’s top intellectual property asset managers for four consecutive years (2015-2018). Don has extensive experience as a first-chair trial lawyer in district court patent infringement trials, administrative patent validity trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and intellectual property appeals.
“Early in my career, I was involved in a few wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases, and that is some of the most rewarding work I have done as an attorney,” Puckett said. “I am looking forward to applying the complex litigation skills I have honed in intellectual property cases to help individuals that have been seriously injured or who have had their civil rights violated.”
Don’s passion for advocating for individuals comes from his blue-collar roots. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather all were Virginia coal miners; and his grandfather was an active organizer for the United Mine Workers. “I feel privileged to be the first lawyer in my family, and I feel a responsibility to use my position as a lawyer and my advocacy skills to seek justice on behalf of others who have been wrongfully injured,” Puckett said.
Donald received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was selected for the Texas Law Review and Order of the Coif. Don received a B.A. degree in political science and journalism from the University of Kentucky. Don is licensed to practice by the State Bar of Texas, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Federal Circuit and the Fifth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, the Northern District of Illinois, the District of Colorado, and the District of Nebraska.
Outside of work, Donald enjoys spending time with his wife Candace, his two teenage sons Coleson and Clayton, and their Shiba Inu dog Noodle. Don enjoys reading history and other non-fiction, and he is an aspiring fiction writer. Don enjoys basketball, disc golf, and is a competitive amateur poker player. He is a dedicated fan of the Kentucky Wildcats college basketball team.
